Traditional music in Chinais played on solo instruments or in smallensembles of plucked andbowed stringed instruments, flutes, and variouscymbals, gongs, anddrums. The scale has five notes. Bamboo pipes andqin are among theoldest known musical instruments fromChina;instruments are traditionally divided into categories based ontheirmaterial of composition: skin, gourd, bamboo, wood, silk,earth/clay,metal and stone. Chinese orchestras traditionally consist ofbowedstrings, woodwinds, plucked strings and percussion.

The concert will feature a group of Chinese traditional music pieces that wildly known among the Chinese.
